The Recording Industry Association of America, often abbreviated as RIAA, is an organization that "supports and promotes the creative and financial vitality of the major music companies."[1] It awards certifications to albums and singles that have reached a certain number of sales. Albums/singles with 500,000 units are Gold certified, ones with 1,000,000 units are Platinum certified, ones with 2,000,000 units are Multi-Platinum certified, and ones with 10,000,000 units are Diamond certified.

- In celebration of Cry Baby's 5th anniversary, a platinum plaque was given to a fan through a contest.
- Melanie was shooting her Extra Credit series on the day she got the platinum plaque for Cry Baby as an album.
- When Melanie received the platinum plaque for Cry Baby as an album, Atlantic held a private party at their headquarters, with people dressed as the Bunny Doctor and with a cake that had the album cover printed on it.
- Michael Keenan also has one plaque at his house, which can be seen in their interview with TikTok.
- Melanie is the first and currently only female artist to have all tracks on her album, standard and deluxe, with certifications.
