"Race" is an unreleased song by Melanie Martinez. The song was written during the filming of Battle Rounds on The Voice in fall 2012.[1] It was later repurposed for the 2013 EP, however, the project was later scrapped.
An acoustic worktape of the song recorded and produced by Melanie on her laptop was posted by Melanie's manager, Ron Shapiro, to SoundCloud in 2013.[2][3]

This song is about Melanie's ex-boyfriend who dumped her to be with another girl. Melanie states that she could have given the boy better loving than his new girlfriend. She says she'll let it go, and for now let this girl win the guy over her.
