"Emerald" is an unreleased song by Melanie Martinez. It was recorded in the sessions for her third studio album, PORTALS, however, it was later scrapped.
The full song and its demo were leaked on October 31, 2021.
Background[]
Melanie wrote and recorded this song in the "portal room", which is her home studio in her old house. Melanie had asked her A&R, Jeff Levin, to send her folders with instrumental tracks from other producers in order to create songs outside of her own perspective. After recording a demo, she sent it along with the sessions to her producers Kinetics & One Love to finish production on the song, similarly to "FAERIE SOIRÉE", "MOON CYCLE" and "LEECHES".
