"Beauty in the Breakdown" is a song originally by The Scene Aesthetic that Melanie Martinez covered with special guest Ellie LaRocco. She also posted the set version on her YouTube channel in 2009, however, the video was later taken down.

Background

Melanie covered this song at her set at Teen Acoustic Cafe on August 7^th, 2009, which was one of her first gigs. She also performed a cover of "Kids" and her original song, "Smoke".

Theme

This song is about falling in love young. It's a mature love, where both lovers know that it won't be easy in the adult world. This couple is about to break up, but they're not quite sure if they're ready.
