This page is for Melanie Martinez's upcoming fifth studio album, known by the acronym MM5. This page currently aims to document all information regarding its release. HADES and MM5 are a double album meaning they are tied to the same project.

Background[]

On March 13, 2024, Melanie posted a video to her Instagram story saying that she has been in Hawaii for the past week writing new music. Melanie said in the same story that she has been staying in the same area of Hawaii where she wrote most of the songs on her third album PORTALS.[1]

On October 10, 2025, Melanie hosted a Q&A on her Instagram story, during which she confirmed that her 4th studio album, HADES, would be released in 2026. Melanie described the album's overall theme as both "utopian and dystopian." She also confirmed that the album is complete, along with an additional album, revealing the project to be a double album. She has also confirmed that the project will revolve around a new character, and that a movie centered around it is in the planning stages. Additionally, Melanie stated that no old unused songs from the Cry Baby, K-12, and PORTALS eras would appear on the project and that all of the songs on it will be new, as she stated that she mentally finished the Cry Baby trilogy when she finished the Trilogy Tour in 2024.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]

On November 28, 2025, three songs titled "Bugs Life", "Limoncello", and "The Plague" were registered in Melanie's name. CJ Baran is credited as a producer and writer on the tracks, alongside songwriter and producer Arthur Besna.[13]

On December 3, 2025, Melanie again confirmed in a video she filmed for Spotify Wrapped that her fourth and fifth albums will be released in 2026 and that they will revolve around a new character and universe. Melanie also stated in the video that she personally feels that these albums are "[her] best yet".

On January 22, 2026, Melanie blacked out all of her social media and her website, possibly to start teasing the release of her fourth and fifth albums.

On January 23, 2026, Melanie posted a teaser video with the location of the video being "HADES" and changed her layout on her social media, with her profile photo on Instagram having the same sigil with a pink background. She also changed her bio on Instagram to saying "Account run by hades tech". The teaser video Melanie posted said the following:

"Presenting Circle, our newest pop star out of Hades Tech. Extracted from a secluded cult, untouched by our AI-driven society. Her naivete, our greatest asset. Her instincts, raw and volatile. Using cutting edge technology, we've downloaded the world's obscenities directly into her system engineering something so vile, seductive, and unforgivable, she is guaranteed to provide public outrage and obsession. A necessary sacrifice, one that will finally justify the permanent banning of human artists once and for all."

Melanie confirmed in the Q&A from her Instagram story on October 10, 2025, that the album will have "a lot of songs" and will not have any form of a deluxe version.
